EWG & Female Quotient

Onsite Brand Activation, AR Mirror

2022

An interactive AR installation at The Female Quotient event during the Cannes Lions Festival, themed "Women in Metaverse," allowed participants to create a real-time 3D avatar from a single selfie.

Guests could then interact with their avatars by dancing alongside them in an Augmented Reality Mirror, capturing memorable photo moments, and sharing recorded experiences with others.

Process

Challenge:

Ideate, design, and develop a novel in-real-life (IRL) interactive AR installation within a highly compressed timeframe, meeting the client's key requirements: augmented reality, avatar creation, personalization, a photo moment, digital takeaways, and participant email collection.

Action:

After several focused brainstorming sessions, the concept, tech stack, and user journey were quickly finalized and presented to the client, who enthusiastically approved.

The user journey involved:

  • Enter the email address.

  • Take a selfie

  • The image is processed via Ready Player Me SDK to generate a 3D avatar.

  • The animated avatar is displayed with the venue terrace as the background.

  • Participants dance with their Avatar Twin in AR, and the interaction is recorded.

  • Participants scan the QR code to access a dedicated web app, where they can download the video, download the 3D avatar file, and relive the AR experience on their phones.

Tech Stack:

Geenee AR SDK (Body Tracking), Ready Player Me SDK, Mixamo, Three.js, JavaScript, React, Node.js, Figma, Blender.

Result

Due to swift decision-making, the project was successfully executed and delivered within just 7 days, exceeding the client's expectations.

Over 100 valuable celebrity email contacts were collected, and multiple technical solutions from the installation continue to be used. The client’s partner, Unstoppable Domains, requested a similar experience for their event, highlighting the project's success.

Paris Hilton also participated in the event, adding significant visibility.
