The Ulta Beauty Digital Advent Calendar features 12 days of unique augmented reality experiences. Guests are invited to return daily for games, quizzes, and exclusive offers. Each day unveils a new AR experience that is available only that day.

Featuring technologies like GenAI Text-to-Texture, Full Body Tracking, Face and Surface Recognition.

Process

Challenge:

The client requested a Digital Advent Calendar to promote their physical version and boost brand awareness among younger consumers. The challenge was creating a diverse and engaging digital experience that resonated with this audience and kept them engaged daily.

Action:

After several ideation and brainstorming sessions, the final product included:

  • An entry scene featuring a Magical Village that serves as the gateway to each new experience.

  • A virtual Ugly Sweater sweater that users can wear in a Full Body-tracking AR experience is enhanced by StableDiffusion's Text-to-Image GenAI technology, allowing generated images to be applied as a sweater's texture.

  • Head-tracking Quiz Games with a prize revealed at the end.

  • Floor-tracking Treasure Hunter and Candy-pult games.

  • Face filters featuring Santa Hats and Reindeer overlays.

  • Gift-receiving experiences with House Portal, Snowglobe, and Present Picker scenes.

Tech Stack:

Face, Full Body, and Surface Tracking SDK, Stable Diffusion AI, Three.js, TypeScript, React, Google Calendar SDK, Figma, Blender.

Result

The Digital Advent Calendar campaign achieved impressive results, attracting a total of 153.5K users, with 10K returning users. On average, 6.5% of users returned day over day, spending an average of 29 seconds across diverse experiences.
